Additional Insured
A party added to an insurance policy who is covered under the named insured's policy.
An Additional Insured is a person or organization that is added to a commercial general liability policy by endorsement. In construction, general contractors typically require subcontractors to name them as additional insured on their CGL policies.
This endorsement extends coverage to the GC for claims arising from the subcontractor's work. The most common endorsement forms are CG 20 10 (ongoing operations) and CG 20 37 (completed operations). Many project owners also require GCs to name them as additional insured.
