Alaska requires a Notice of Right to Lien to the property owner before filing. Mechanics liens must be recorded within 120 days of completion under AS 34.35.050. Subcontractors must provide a preliminary 15-day notice to preserve lien rights on certain projects.

Prevailing Wage Requirements

Alaska requires prevailing wages on all public construction contracts over $25,000 under AS 36.05 (Little Davis-Bacon Act). Alaska Department of Labor sets rates. Certified payroll required.

Insurance Requirements

Workers compensation required for all employers with 1+ employees. Minimum $1M general liability standard. Alaska workers comp premiums tend to be higher due to remote job site conditions.

OSHA & Safety Compliance

Alaska operates a state OSHA plan through the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development (AKOSH). Covers both private and public sector employees. Standards generally match federal OSHA.
