Insurance Requirements

Workers compensation required for all employers with 1+ employees. Minimum $1M general liability standard. Hawaii Employers Mutual Insurance Company (HEMIC) is a major carrier. Higher premiums due to island logistics.

OSHA & Safety Compliance

Hawaii operates a state OSHA plan through HIOSH (Hawaii Occupational Safety and Health). Covers both public and private sector. Standards generally match federal OSHA with some state-specific regulations.
