Mechanics Lien Law

Kentucky mechanics liens must be filed within 6 months of last furnishing under KRS 376.010. Subcontractors must provide a written notice to the property owner within 75 days of last furnishing. Kentucky has a master commissioner system for lien enforcement.

Prevailing Wage Requirements

Kentucky repealed its prevailing wage law in 2017. Federal Davis-Bacon applies to federally funded projects only. No state certified payroll or prevailing wage requirements on state projects.

Insurance Requirements

Workers compensation required for all employers with 1+ employees. Minimum $1M general liability typical. Kentucky Employers Mutual Insurance (KEMI) is a prominent carrier.

OSHA & Safety Compliance

Kentucky operates a state OSHA plan through Kentucky OSH under the Kentucky Labor Cabinet. Covers both public and private sector. Standards generally mirror federal OSHA requirements.
