Mechanics Lien Law

Oregon requires an 8-day Notice of Right to a Lien at contract signing under ORS 87.021. Subcontractors must send the notice before or within 8 days of first furnishing. Mechanics liens must be filed within 75 days of completion. Oregon has specific requirements for residential construction.

Prevailing Wage Requirements

Oregon requires prevailing wages on public works projects over $50,000 under ORS 279C.800. Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) sets rates. Certified payroll required. Apprenticeship utilization requirements on many projects.

Insurance Requirements

Workers compensation required for all employers with 1+ employees. Minimum $1M general liability standard. Oregon uses a competitive private workers comp market. SAIF Corporation is a prominent carrier.

OSHA & Safety Compliance

Oregon operates a state OSHA plan through Oregon OSHA under the Department of Consumer and Business Services. Covers both public and private sector. Some standards exceed federal OSHA, particularly fall protection.
